The pain points

A national children’s apparel retailer was struggling after a failed ERP rollout that left operations fragmented and warehouse teams unable to keep up with orders. The system was overly customized, difficult to maintain, and disconnected from the company’s e-commerce and retail environments.

Financial data uploads took more than half a day, leaving managers without timely insight into sales or inventory. Order fulfillment lagged, morale dipped, and teams were forced to create manual workarounds just to keep products moving.

The company needed a partner who could stabilize its systems, modernize its infrastructure, and restore performance without halting day-to-day operations.

Solution

SSNW led a complete project recovery, eliminating unnecessary customizations and rebuilding critical workflows to align with native ERP functionality to immediately restore stability.

Next, we migrated the company’s in-house servers to Microsoft Azure, establishing a scalable and secure foundation for future growth. To unlock visibility, we built a cloud-based data warehouse feeding directly into Power BI, giving the retailer real-time reporting on sales, financial performance, and inventory movements down to the hour.

Warehouse workflows were redesigned with voice-enabled picking and streamlined receiving, enabling faster throughput, higher accuracy, and dramatically reduced training times. We re-integrated the company’s retail systems and e-commerce platform with their ERP, providing consistent inventory visibility and order tracking across all channels.

Results

With the core platform stabilized and data flowing cleanly, the impact showed up across the business:

  • 4× product throughput – Distribution centers moved roughly four times more product through the same footprint, without adding headcount.
  • Faster insight, earlier in the day – Daily sales and inventory data became available more than 10 hours sooner, enabling same-day adjustments to promotions, replenishment, and labor planning.
  • Leaner, more accurate warehouse operations – Warehouse teams reduced errors and training time thanks to voice-enabled picking and streamlined receiving workflows.
  • Stronger financial close – Finance gained a faster, more predictable close, with fewer manual reconciliations and late-night fire drills.
  • Restored confidence in the platform – Leadership regained confidence in the system and could finally trust the numbers on their dashboards.

Together, these changes turned a strained ERP rollout into a stable platform the retailer could scale on—supporting growth in both online and retail channels.
